A couple of weeks have passed with the odd night here or there spent on the game. Time for a quick update on my in development iPhone game. Ready.
I’m coding the game for the Corona SDK. I’ve had to learn lua but it’s not been as painful as I imagined. What’s nice about using this platform is it will allow me to release the game on Android relatively easily if and when the time comes. Suck it Objective-C. It’s still early on in my gaming stages of development I’m mostly experimenting, not really writing polished code. Box2D, the physics engine tied into Corona, seems pretty powerful. I’ve got my wee dude jumping about using swipe to jump action.
The overall concept of the game is taking shape slowly but surely. It’s essentially a platform puzzler with short levels with some form of character subbing involved. I’m trying to code up as much as possible without this as I’m still trying to work out how this be used to give an ever increasing difficulty level.
I’ve drawn some simple egghead style characters in Illustrator. These could potentially roll rather than run purely so I don’t have to add feet. One less animation.
